Do you ever feel like you spend all your hours and days doing and not living? Client often tell me that they feel like they are on a treadmill and cannot get off. They express that they want to take time to take care of themselves, enjoy their family and just stop to smell the roses but do not see a way off the track. We live in a rat race that society has us running and we are losing sight of what we are really living for.
The problem is that we have forgotten how to organize our priorities. It is easy to lose sight of your priorities with the everyday stresses of life and with the holidays approaching there is even more hustle and bustle to handle. That is why it is essential to organize your priorities just as you would organize the rest of your life. By organizing your priorities, you have a better focus and gain clarity about what you value in life. You also have a much better chance of sticking to your priorities when life gets crazy.
Here are some steps to help you organize your priorities and start living the life you want:
5. Learn how to set boundaries. Say “no!” when you need to and stick to your top ten priorities.
6. Honor yourself by honoring the commitment you made to your top priorities.
“Perhaps it would be a good idea, fantastic as it sounds, to muffle every telephone, stop every motor and halt activities for an hour someday to give people a chance to ponder for a few minutes on what it is all about, why they are living and what they really want.” ~James Truslow Adams
To live your priorities remember to read your top ten list on a regular basis. Try to minimize the time you spend with negative people and make time for people who support your priorities. Finally, make time for yourself in your own life!
