Healthy Lifestyle Weight Loss

weight losses with many of my clients. I offer my clients a comprehensive five step approach to
weight loss. First, we work on body
image. Research shows body image issues
are on the rise and contribute to eating disorders. Second, we work at
identifying triggers for binge eating that cause stress, quilt and negative
thoughts. Third, we identify those
barriers that prevent you from living a healthy lifestyle. We work at breaking down resistance, managing
time and setting priorities. Fourth, I
offer support and accountability. No
matter how determined you are, it's not easy to lose weight. It requires
and even a few slip-ups can significantly undermine your goals. Therapy offers
you the support you need to tackle this challenge by:
- Helping you develop coping mechanisms for dealing with
- Offering you advice on how to deal with people who make
negative comments about your body.·
- Helping you replace negative self-talk with more positive
messages to yourself.·
- Aiding you in identifying the specific psychological
challenges that cause you to make unhealthy life style choices. You might, for
example, overeat because you're bored, lonely, or depressed.
- Assist you in identifying clear, reasonable goals. It
might not be feasible for you to weigh 100 pounds or to look the way you did
when you were 20. Your therapist can help you determine what's physically and
psychologically healthy for where you are right now.
Finally, the fifth step is a healthy life style group
support. I have been wanting to add a
group support component for my weight loss client. Research has repeatedly shown that help
doesn't only come from experts. Leaning on peers who have faced challenges
similar to your own offers you the chance to gain from these peers' wisdom,
learn from their successes, and avoid repeating their mistakes. Many therapists
offer group therapy or referrals to support groups, so don't miss out on this incredible
opportunity to learn from your peers.
healthy life style group begins on September 9. The group size is limited to 12 and will meet
weekly. The program I use does not come
with a meal plan, however, it does come with a complete workable plan for
overall success. You receive a daily guide
to help you stay motivated and develop your own eating plan. I also recommend every client have a complete
physical. I will work hand and hand with
your physician to help you with any diet restrictions or medical issues.
